Abstract. Heuchera americana L. ‘Palace Purple’ growing in bigger pots -with medium volume 500 cm³ formed more shoots than the ones in smaller pots – with 374 cm³ volume. Effect of the kind of medium on growth of young plants was not significant. The best growth of plants was observed under influence of 3.5 g·dm^-3 dose of Hydrocote fertilizer.

Summary

Three kinds of medium were used in the experiment: coconut substrate, peat substrate and high peat mixed with mineral soil (2:1). The effects of medium volume in pot and different doses of Hydrocote were also evaluated. Height of plants number of leaves and shoots and diameter of plants were measured 40 days after the plants were potted.

Heuchera americana ‘Palace Purple’ growing in bigger pots – with medium volume 500 cm³ had more shoots than the ones in smaller pots – with 374 cm³ volume. The highest dose of Hydrocote (3.5 g·dm^-3) caused a strong growth of plants; they had the largest diameter and number of shoots. Height of plants was the biggest in the coconut substrate.
